Smiddy Cottage is a restored 18th century Blacksmith's Cottage located at the North West of the Isle of Islay. The cottage is located one mile up a private farm track on Smaull Farm, which is owned by the RSPB and farmed by ourselves. This picturesque setting was featured in the first week of the BBC's Springwatch 2007.
The bedroom consists of a King Size bed or two single beds using a "zip and link" system. You can wake to beautiful sunrises from the east-facing Velux window and wind down in the evenings watching the sunset from the large Velux window that faces west. The fully equipped integrated kitchen features a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer, gas hob and oven and a table to seat four people.
The bathroom comprises of a large quadrant shower cubicle with power shower, toilet, sink and heated towel rail. This lovely room is bright and airy and has lovely views out over the hill where horses, cattle and sheep graze all year round. The stunning living room room has a vaulted ceiling and exposed beams has a feeling of space and is flooded in natural light all day, due to its patio doors, back door and window. It is furnished with two double sofas, a flat screen television with Freeview, a DVD player and a payphone. The room has the beautiful feature of an AGA multi-fuel stove which is a welcoming sight when you come in after a day's walking. The garden comprises of a lawn with garden furniture and a clothes drying area and is encompassed with wild flowers and magnificent views.
