This semi-detached two storey cottage, built in 1890 as accommodation for slate workers, is fully modernised and sleeps up to 5 adults. It is situated on Kilchiaran Farm, a working farm with both sheep and cattle, which has a distinctive round steading built in 1825, now a listed building.
The cottage has a lounge with a satellite TV. The kitchen has a spacious dining area and the following appliances: cooker, oven, microwave, fridge, freezer and washing machine. The bathroom has both a separate shower and a bath. There are two bedrooms on the upper floor: one double and one with a single bed and bunk beds. The cottage is fully central heated via an oil boiler and electricity and oil are included within the weekly charge.
Kilchiaran Bay and Chapel are a five minute walk from the cottage. Also nearby is the outstanding Kilchoman Beach and viewpoint at Granny's Rock.
On arrival on Islay, make your way to the village of Bridgend, then follow the signs for Port Charlotte/Portnahaven. You will drive through the village of Bruichladdich, and two miles further on, you will arrive in the village of Port Charlotte.
In the centre of Port Charlotte, drive past the Loch Indaal Hotel on your right, turning right at the signpost for 'Kilchiaran'. Follow this road for three miles and you will descend a steep hill with views of the sea. Continue past the round steading, and a further hundred yards along this road on your right is a gate with the sign 'Kilchiaran Cottage'. Follow the track up to the cottages - it is the right hand cottage of the pair.
