The cottage has stunning views of the bay, the lighthouse and the mighty ocean beyond Orsay and MacKenzie Islands. The cottage comprises of two double bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen and living area with open fire. A large well kept garden to the rear offers a relaxing place to sit, as well as fresh vegetables, dependent on time of year. Anchor cottage comfortably sleeps four people.
The cottage has central heating, and an open fire in the living room, for which fuel is supplied. There is a washing machine, and a tumble drier as well as an iron and ironing board. The main bedroom has a double bed and the second bedroom has twin beds. Television is available should it be required. Linen and towels are supplied.
There is a garden to the rear of the property which is well stocked with flowers and a vegetable patch, which is kept in good order. There is a comfortable bench outside the front door, only yards from the sea where holidaymakers often indulge in the 'Islay pastime' of watching the tide come in and then go out again. A colony of seals live in and around the bay and people come from all over the island to see them basking on the rocks a few yards in front of the house. The Post Office in the village stocks some groceries and daily newspapers can be purchased there. The local pub, called An Tigh Seinnse is open every day and is well known for having a good menu as well as a welcoming ambience.
The owner, Alec, has a boat that is used for fishing in the summer and he is usually happy to supply you with fresh fish, crab and lobster. If he has none available he will put you in touch with other local fisherman who will be happy to supply you at a reasonable cost.
